The film is a journey within himself where he ultimately faces the reality that the Internationally acclaimed singers like him make crores of rupess by pirating the original music of the poor people living in the small villages of Punjab. These people work hard to make their both ends meet, but create the wonderful music to satisfy their aesthetic needs. Their music crosses the cultural and political boundaries of Punjab. Other people make loads of money out of their music but …..They never get back their due. They live in poverty….but never stop their creation. A new compositon comes out of them along with an urge for creation of another composition. He is able to find an interesting relevance between the piracy of music and the virus of AIDS. Julia (A British girl) and the lady love of Tessy M become the witness and guide to him in his journey of self-realization. The film is an interesting combination of Folk, Pop and Sufi music. The subject matter of the film "BHANGRA BEATS" is related directly to the hearts of a large number of music lovers in the whole World. They have seen the emergence of the Punjabi music in International arena and taking the centre stage in overseas market. Even the non-Asians residing in the USA, Canada and UK are well aware of the Punjabi music and Bhangra dance. Films like “Monsoon Wedding”, “Bend it like Beckham” and “Bride and Prejudice” have proven it worldwide. Punjabi rhythm and the Punjabi music have become an integral part of virtually every film being developed in Bollywood now. But the originality of the music is fast loosing its place somewhere. The film and its subject matter deals with the pains of the creativity first and then the acute pain of facing its piracy by the market forces. The title "BHANGRA BEATS" is a self depictive one. People, the world over very well know what is BHANGRA and what are its BEATS.
