The saga of Heer Ranjha retold
The name Heer Ranjha evokes the image of two love-lorn youth who are incomplete without one another. Though the story is nearly 300 years old it still reverbates in our hearts because they represent the ultimate sacrifice for one another.
Many films have been made and many will be made. Recently Erose International has released its Punjabi film Heer Ranjha which is said to be one of the biggest budget Punjabi films. Harjeet Singh has directed this film which has Harbhajan Mann and Neeru Bajwa as the lead players. Lyrics is by Babu Singh Mann and music is by Gurmeet Singh.
Ranjha plays bansuri and is self centered and loves to live in his own imaginary world. After his father dies he has to leave his home Takhta Hazara as he was taunted by hiis family members. He meets the beautiful Heer of Jhang Siyal and both fall in love with each other. This is disliked by the villagers and Heer is married off. In the traditional story both die to meet but in the film the story continues even after their death.
Rajesh Banga of Erose International told that topnotch technicians and artists, effective dialogues, loving sweet music, and beautiful costumes has made it such a film that the viewers will love to come again and again to see the film and transcend into a world whether nothing remains other than love and sacrifice.
